I watched: City Lights (1931)

Charlie Chaplin reprises his tramp role in this film about the struggles of the poor and the wasteful extravagance of the filthy rich. The tramp falls for a blind flower merchant and befriends a suicidal drunk millionaire. The protagonist is treated to drinks, food, parties and fancy cars while the millionaire is wasted but the power dynamic is quickly reestablished the morning after. The tramp tricks the flower girl into thinking he's loaded rich and even accepts money from him, money he stole from the millionaire. He urges the woman to get medical treatment to regain her sight. When she does, she laughs at Chaplin when she sees him being ridiculed by the teenage punks for his shabby clothes. She remembers as soon as she feels his hands and likely feels like a total bitch for laughing at him, they look at each-other lovingly as we fade to black. This movie was pretty dope, it was made as a silent film at a time when talkies were already a thing, and I can see why with Chaplins mas
